Craft & Design: Hubert von Herkomer in context
Tuesday 23 April 2024 at 7pm
Talk by Dr. Christopher Jordan
While Herkomer’s work as a painter and print-maker is well-known, his later work in other media is less so. The recent acquisition by the museum of enamels and silverware designed and made by him offers the opportunity to examine this aspect of his work afresh in the context of other practitioners of his time.

Outings

Visit to Hever Castle, Kent and Royal Tunbridge Wells
Saturday 18 May 2024
Whole day outing by coach
Hever Castle was the home of Anne Boleyn, who was wooed, won and executed by Henry VIII.
The American William Waldorf Astor bought the castle in 1903, creating a spectacular Italian garden containing statuary from Roman to Renaissance times.
The coach will then take the group on to Royal Tunbridge Wells to obtain lunch and enjoy a walk around the town to appreciate the interesting architecture.

Full details including timings and price will be available in the March 24 Newsletter.
